Algebra II

&

 Trigonometry

A one-year course covering Algebra II and Trigonometry

An Algebra II/Trigonometry course taught according to Charlotte Mason's principles using the Algebra II/Trig text by Paul Foerster.  This approach includes the introduction of "captain ideas" from great thinkers or from history to pique the interest of the students and grab their attention.  Through carefully graduated lessons, students are engaged and guided to wonder, explore, and consider concepts on their own.

This course constitutes one high school math credit.

*This course will be provided if enough students are enrolled.  If there are not enough students enrolled by August 2021, then every student that has enrolled will receive a full refund.

Prerequisites: a course of Algebra 1 and Geometry

Structure:

  • Live, online class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:00 - 3:00 central, via Zoom.

  • Assignments will be given to be completed independently on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • Short, pre-recorded videos will be posted on Fridays, covering topics students were struggling with that week, or an interesting illustration pertaining to that week's lessons.

Logistics: Class assignments and links will be posted in a Google Classroom to which students will be added.  In this environment, students have the opportunity to easily ask the teacher for help, converse with their classmates, as well as use Google tools to turn in assignments and re-watch lessons. The instructor will be available to answer questions, including personalized video answers to problems, as needed.

Dates: This is a 34-week course.  Fall semester will run Sept 8 through Dec 16, with a week off for Thanksgiving break.  Spring semester will run Jan 4 through May 19, with a week off in March for spring break.
